She dreams.
When she sleeps, she sleeps like gravity, she sleeps like asteroids in orbit, like magnetic rocks forming, like glass cutting diamonds, like dust, like digital rust, like Saturns moons, she sleeps like a blind architect, like a lunar eclipse, she sleeps like a rabid tornado at the Renaissance fair, she sleeps gently on the clouds of virtue, she sleeps gently on the clouds of pain, she sleeps freely in the gardens of Athena, she sleeps safely in the acid rain, she sleeps and she wakes and she conquers. Again and again and again.
She walks...like a thousand lions marching, like a thousand devils dancing, like a thousand panthers begging, like a thousand corners crashing, like a thousand Mountains forming, like a thousand torches burning, like a thousands drummers drumming, like a thousand hammers pounding, like a delicate truth resounding, like gold and silver shining, like like a thousand year old thunder from the bottom of your soul.
She fights...like nightshade, like white lightning in a black hole, like a star being born to a God on a hill, like a dragon on a chain tied to a wave in the eye of the storm, like invisible magic, like cardiac arrest, like sugarcane, like laser beams, like a disco ghost full of cancer, like Scorpio, like Pisces, like a lemon on mercury, like a lime on Venus, she fights and spits out the seeds. she fights cause we are all immigrants. She fights cause we are all minorities. She fights cause we are all privileged. She fights because we are all together.
She danced.. like hydra, like molten lava, like foxglove in moonglow, like a cloud on a sunny day, on a web like a spider, like a moth around a flame, like a serpent around a sugar maple, like the ripples in the water of time, like the hunt of an eagle, like the heart of the wolf, like the tears of a tiger or the kill of the lamb, like the blood of the cosmos, like heaven descending on a Casco bay evening, like Adam on Eve, like the moon of Asgard, like the waters of Avalon, like the leaves of Arcadia.
She bathed.. in Aurora, in the silence of the orchestra, in the distortion of the sun, in the ash of victory, in the fields of contemplation, in the valley of the destitute, in the face of abandonment, in the circus of confusion, in the celebration of defeat, in the alley of the cities, in a veil of smoke, in the halls of injustice, in the prisons of greed, in the hands of the suffering, in the filth of forgiveness, in the hour of desperation, in the nakedness of love, in the excess of the king..
She rose.., from organic matter, from carbon and love, up from dead vines and sunshine, she rose, in a storm, dust and fire, flames of desire, faster and higher, metallic and electric, she fired back, in the Kirkwood Gap, blue and black and yellow and white and red, she rose, like a bourbon rose, like a Victor Hugo, like Winchester cathedral, like Charles de Milles or Mr. Lincoln, like a yellow rose from Texas...she rises.
She drips...off the tip of the tongue, all covered in love, she sips from the cup of grace, she slips on the ice, across the lines, on the face of regret, she drips like a bee sucking honey, she evaporates, she radiates, she fits it all into a box on the shelf, she turns, she twists, she shape shifts in rhythm and blues, in ultra Violet hues and evergreens, in technicolor static.
She gathers...what all the others spill, the moments still, compete for her attention, gather for reflection and bask in all the dynamite she is, the anthracite, the Amphibolite, the hardest stone known to man...she gathers, like a raven, the pebbles and marbles, the sand and all the coal, all the hemlock in the birches, the jimsonweed by the shoreline, the constellations on the horizon, the quartz, the opal and the emerald, the salt, the fat and the sugar, all the tiny fragments of energy, life, today and tomorrow.
She breaks.. straight down the middle, like platinum, like porcelain, like ceramic, in the solitude of plastic strangers, in the face of sudden dangers, in the darkness of the light, she breaks, the heavy weights binding, the chains securing and weighing her down, she breaks...and gives herself up to the wind, on the side of the road, in the meadow, in the morning, in the battlefields of misfortune, in the rain, in the end, In the Holocaust of time.
She loves...like Apricity, like Aries, with hurricane eyes, like hawks and like doves, like atomic power, like the midnight hour, like snow melting, she loves, like time flying, like death dying, like a knock on the door, like a solar flare, like a grizzly bear, like a bank robbers gun, she throws her hands up, she loves, like the most addictive drugs you can buy, like chocolate, like strawberry, like glitter from space, like stars shining, like hope blooming, like day breaking, like a train in the tunnel coming right at you, ..like worlds colliding, faith aligning, like waves crashing, like vessels pumping blood through your veins, she loves and she lives and she loves.
She dreams.
